Why couldn't my income be verified?
Verified income is one of several factors that determine eligibility for a cash advance. If we couldn't verify yours, the steps below address the most common causes.
What you can do
- Make sure the right bank account is linked. Our system can only see the bank account you've connected. If your paychecks are deposited into a different bank account, you can switch banks by canceling your subscription in the app, logging back in, and linking the bank account where your paychecks arrive.
- Set up direct deposit. If your pay currently arrives by cash, check, or transfer, asking your employer about direct deposit means your paychecks arrive in a form we accept.
- Give it time. If your linked bank account or job is new, a few more pay cycles may be all that's needed. Your eligibility is re-checked automatically as new activity arrives.
Why income sometimes can't be verified
Our system looks for a pattern of recurring income deposits in your linked bank account — but sometimes income doesn't arrive in a form we accept, or in a way our system can detect.
- Income arrives in a different account. If your paychecks are deposited somewhere other than the bank account you linked, our system can't see them.
- Not enough deposit history yet. Our system looks for at least three (3) recurring deposits from the same source. If your linked bank account was opened recently, or you recently started a new job, that pattern may not have built up yet.
- Deposits don't follow a regular schedule. Our system can detect income that arrives weekly, every other week, twice a month, or monthly. Income that arrives on an irregular schedule is harder to detect.
- It's been longer than usual since your last deposit. We only count income that appears to be ongoing. If more time than usual has passed since the last deposit from an income source — for example, a paycheck arriving later than normal — that income can't be counted until a new deposit from that source appears in your account.
- Income isn't direct-deposited. We only accept income that arrives by direct deposit. Deposits made by cash, check, ATM deposit, prepaid card, or transfers from other people or third-party apps aren't accepted, even when they arrive regularly.
Resolving income verification doesn't guarantee an advance — eligibility depends on several factors — but the steps above address the most common reasons income can't be verified.
